FAQs

Are you a registered counsellor?

I have completed my Master of Counselling and applied to convocate in July. I have applied for the CCC-Q designation with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will be registering as an RCC with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) following convocation.

Is what we talk about confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in sessions is confidential and protected by law, so you can feel secure in sharing. There are a small number of specific circumstances where I am legally required to share information, typically related to safety or a court subpoena. These situations are rare. When they do arise, I aim to handle them as collaboratively as possible. We'll go over all of this in our first session so you know exactly what to expect.

What's a session like?

All sessions are 50 minutes. The first session is focused on getting to know each other, exploring your hopes, worries, and preferences for your time in therapy. I may ask more questions than usual as we figure that out together. Throughout, you always have full choice and agency: what you share, how you share it, and when, or whether, you do at all.

Will sessions covered by extended health benefits?

Once I am professionally registered, sessions will be eligible for extended health benefits coverage. Rates will be set following registration, based on current market rates. I am committed to flexibility in payment structure based on individual need, including a sliding scale option, so that cost is not a barrier to care.
